Battle Cutman
If you have a Megaman X: Command Mission save on the same memory card that you are saving on in X8, you can battle Cutman at the end of Optic Sunflower's stage.
Infinite Metals
To use this trick, you will need to have obtained and bought the Metal Generator. Then you need to beat at least one maverick so that the Noah's Ark stage will be unlocked. Now, return to the Noah's Ark stage using any character. Take a rubber band and rubber band the left dual shock stick in the Left position so that your character runs to the left side of the screen and just runs against the side of the screen constantly. Eventually you will start generating metals every few seconds. Now just turn the TV off and let that run overnight or whatever. Within a few hours, you will have almost 100,000 Metals.
Optic Sunflower stage Fight Cutman
Start the game with a Mega Man X: Command Mission saved game file on your memory card. Immediately before you fight Sunflower, you navigator will say something about a signal marked "CM". A portal will open, and you can fight Cutman. He can be killed with a charged Buster Shot.
Defeating Bosses
Just have both character's life at full and perhaps a Life Tank. You can kill every Boss with only the Buster and Saber.
Gravity Antonion stage Zero's Rare Metal
Zero's Rare Metal is found in the Gravity Antonion stage. Use Axl and Zero, with Layer as Navi. Copy the DNA of the characterswho walk and dash on spikes. It is in the room after the Skipe Block mini Boss, not right after. It is about the third room after, in the far lower left corner.
Noah's Park stage Buster capsule to X's Neutral Armor
After you complete the Noah's Park stage, return there. The door is now open at the place where you jumped up to continue.
Earthrock Trilobite stage Armor capsule
To get past the canisters and get to the Armor Pod, you need the weapon acquired from Burn Rooster. Just shoot and get the armor.
Gravity Antonion stage Head capsule to X's Neutral armor
Go to the Gravity Antonion stage. Use Palette as Navigator (Axl and X recommended). When you reach the room with two teleporters, switch the room twice and hover over the spiked area to the right. Land in the middle break and enter the teleporter.
Bamboo Pandemonium stage Leg Part I for X
To get this, Ride Armor and Zero are suggested. After you get past the trap room (where you fight all the Ride Armors), kill everything here. As Zero, take the Ride Armor up on the elevator, hover over, air dash, then finally jump out and do a double jump. If done correctly, you can switch to X and get the part.
Recommended Boss order
The following is the recommended order of Boss to take on based on weapon weaknesses. Note: Vile is weak against Yeti's ice weapon.
Bamboo Pandemonium Earthrock Trilobite Gigavolt Man O War Avalanche Yeti Burn Rooster Optic Sunflower Dark Mantis Gravity Antonion
Use the following Boss order, with the corresponding weapon weakness.
Optic Sunflower (Green Spinner) Dark Mantis (Shining Ray) Avalanche Yeti (Shadow Runner) Burn Rooster (Drift Diamond) Gravity Antonion (Melt Creeper) Earthrock Trilobyte (Squeeze Ball) Gigabolt Man-O-War (Crystal Wall) Bamboo Pandamonium (Thunder Dancer) Vile (Drift Diamond) Copy Sigma (Shadow Runner) Sigma (X-Buster) Lumine (X-Buster) Lumine, Angel form (X-Buster)
Use the following Boss order. Each Boss' weakness is the weapon acquired from the Boss listed above it. Though Earthrock Trilobite's helmet is destroyed by the gravity weapon and it does more damage, attacking with guard breaking moves (full charge, third swing, eighth shot) will only knock the helmet off and he will be vulnerable while he tries to return to it.
Earthrock Trilobite (weak against Guard Breaks or Gravity Weapon; harder as he is not distracted)
Gigavolt Man-O-War (weak against Avalanche Yeti) Burn Roster Bamboo Pandamoniam Optic Sunflower Dark Mantis Gravity Antionim
Easy money
To get extra money, just stay in one area and run right and left. You get the money when you run left, and you must run right or it will not work. Do not press Circle going both ways.
Weaknesses
Most bosses in Megaman X8 have a certain weapon they're weak against. By using these weapons against them, you can deal more damage per attack.
Boss's name - Weapon Optic Sunflower - Bamboo Pandamonium's weapon Dark Mantis - Optic Sunflower's weapon Gravity Antonion - Dark Mantis's weapon Earthrock Trilobyte - Gravity Antonion's weapon Gigavolt Man-o-war - Earthrock Trilobyte's weapon Avalanche Yeti - Gigavolt Man-o-war's weapon Burn Rooster - Avalanche Yeti's weapon Bamboo Pandamonium - Burn Rooster's weapon Vile - Avalanche Yeti's weapon Fake Sigma (in Gateway) - Dark Mantis's weapon
Although Axl also has weapons that are effective against the bosses, his weapons deal lesser damage than X's and Zero's.
The Return of Cut Man
There are two ways to fight Cut Man in this game.
1. If you have a Command Mission (PS2 game) save file on your memory card, you can fight Cut Man after defeating Optic Sunflower.
2. At the title screen (when it says "Press Start"), press left, circle, up, triangle, down, X, right, square, L1, R1, L2, and R2. Start a new game, and you'll be able to fight Cut Man after defeating Optic Sunflower.
Special Armors
Beat the game on normal or hard difficulty and obtain all of each character's chips to make their special armors available. For X and Zero, you simply need to obtain all of their chips (including the Sigma Blade for Zero) and defeat Lumine. After you beat Lumine and start a new game on the clear data, beat Noah's Park (the first level) and when you select your character, the seperate armors should be available.
X obtains the ultimate armor (not as cool looking as the ones from X4-X6) and Zero obtains his Black Armor.
Axl requires special circumstances to actually obtain his white armor, at least he did in my case. To get Axl's white armor, you must obtain all of his chips and deliver the final blow to Lumine with Axl using a double attack.
Axl becomes white and powder blue, and he actually looks a little cooler.
Fighting as the navigators
To be able to fight as either Alia, Layer, or Pallette, you must beat the game using one more than the other. After doing so, save and load your clear data and make your way to the R&D lab. scroll down a little to find either Alia Buster, Layer Rapier, or Pallette (something). To obtain the other two, just use one to complete four stages, and do the same for the other one. You need at least 36000 metals to buy them (if you have the metal discount chip already). Otherwise, they cost 40000 metals.
Easy Metals
Go to the Earthrock Trilobyte level with Axl to the point where you have to start chasing the giant Mechaniloid. Then, just have Axl bombard it with his gun while your chasing him, and he'll drop TONS of red metals. Also helps to proceed slowly, cause while your standing still, he won't be going anywhere, and you can get more metals off of him. And before he gets away, jump into the spikes to use a retry chip and try again. You can get over 10,000 metals in one trip with a little luck. The trick also works with X, but it works better with Axl due to his rapid-fire ability.
Zero's Sigma-Blade
Beat the game and use the cleared save and the Sigma-Blade can be bought at the lab.
Zero's Black Armor
Beat the game and have all of Zero's metals purchased.
Zero's Sigma-Blade
Beat the game and use the cleared save and the Sigma-Blade can be bought at the lab.
X's Ultimate Armor
Beat the game with all of X's metals and all 8 pieces of armor.
Axl's White Armor
Beat the game and have all of Axl's metals, then beat the last boss with a double attack using Axl.
Different Endings
Get the final hit on the boss with Axl, X, or Zero to see one of three different endings.
